Beth C., Asheville"I injured one of my front teeth as a child, resulting in a chipped and darkened tooth. As a young adult I had bonding material placed on the tooth and later, when that began to show wear, I had a veneer put on by a different dentist. I was not completley pleased with the results, because the tooth looked "thicker" and had a darker line near the gum line. For most of my time living in Asheville, I have seen Dr. Gillespie for my dental needs. He often commented that he could help me get a better look for that tooth with new and improved materials that are available today. I finally decided to take him up on it and am so glad I did! I always felt like the tooth did not look as natural as it could and I really felt confident that Dr. Gillespie would be able to help me achieve a better result. As it turned out, my injured tooth proved to be a bit of a challenge because of the amount of darkness of the tooth. I needed a light enough veneer to cover the darkness, but that often resulted in the thickness that was not the best match with the adjacent teeth. Dr. Gillespie and the guys at the lab were awesome!! They did not give up and I could tell that Dr. Gillespie was truly invested in not just a good result for me, but for an excellent result! It turned out that a crown was the answer and I now feel like I have a much more natural looking tooth! I can't say enough about how wonderfully I was treated by Dr. Gillespie, his staff and the great guys at the lab. I honestly feel like a lesser dentist would have settled for some of the first veneers we tried. They were o.k., certainly better than what I had, but Dr. Gillespie treated me like family-honestly wanting a superior result for me. I feel supremely confident in recommending Dr. Gillespie to anyone looking for cosmetic dental work (and he and his staff provide great regular dental care too!)."Selina D., Fairview"I just had my braces taken off and I didn't like the gap I still had in my front teeth, so I met with Dr. Gillespie and he showed me what I could have done, and I went for it. Since I had the procedure as an adult, I was able to watch my confidence change and I smiled more. I think Dr. Gillespie is gifted in his ability to have vision of the after look , and that gave me confidence that he was not going to do anything but the best, and that's just what he did. The staff was extremely caring and supportive in the process. It can be a little intimidating to have work done that is an investment. At the end of the day I would do it again., and I would highly recommend Dr. Gillespie and his staff."Andrew F., Hendersonville"I chose to have cosmetic dental work done after years of being self-conscious about my smile due to fluorosis and discoloration caused from bonding. Since the procedure, I have learned to smile all over again. No longer feeling like I have to refrain from smiling or showing my teeth, has definitely been a confidence booster. Dr. Gillespie and his staff did an excellent job in customizing a look that fits me. They placed an emphasis on the importance of having a natural, healthy-looking smile. I could not have been treated any better by the staff at Dr. Gillespie's office. What I liked most was that, although they would give their guided professional opinions, they ultimately left every decision up to me. Even in the final stages, they reassured me that if I was not satisfied for some reason they would make the changes necessary until I was happy. Even staff members who were not involved with the procedure seemed genuinely excited to see the transformation of my smile."Jill L., Asheville"I had nice teeth overall, but I had two teeth bonded when I was a child, and the bonding material had become very discolored and chipped. Plus I grind my teeth, and that led to a lot of wear & tear and noticeable chipping on my front teeth. It made me self-conscious when I smiled, and I didn't want to smile in pictures. The work Dr. Gillespie and his staff did with my veneers couldn't have been more spectacular! I get compliments on my teeth and my smile all the time now. I'm so happy with the results. If I ever had a question or concern, they were helpful and quick to respond. I admit I was a little nervous going into it, but everyone was so nice and reassuring, they made the whole experience a breeze. Best of all, I love my new smile! "Becky P., Old Fort"Due to problems from birth, and what I considered poorly performed prior dental work, I was in the market for a new dentist. I started with wanting to fix a few things and ended up with a beautiful smile and beautiful teeth. People are always commenting and it makes me feel good that I'm noticed. I was really impressed by his kindness and the kindness of the staff. His staff is a group of super awesome women who make you feel very welcome and treat you as if they are there just for you. I especially like Donna, my hygenist. She is a super sweet gal. After my extensive dental work, Dr. Gillespie called my home after hours to check on me - that's a great dentist!"Richard W., Asheville"For a number of years I had been urged by dentists to undergo the restorative procedure but procrastinated as the scope of work seemed daunting. However, as my teeth continued to deteriorate and I began to experience ongoing doscomfort, I realized for the sake of my health, the time had come to engage the services of a specialist. As luck would have it, shortly before I began my search for such a specialist, I noticed a man at my gym who appeared to have undergone the procedure. He confirmed he had, then enthusiatically recommended Dr Gillespie. The impact on my self-esteem began with the first formative sessions then expanded through completion. Whereas before I was self-conscious about chipping, splitting and discoloration, the results--which were better than I dared imagine--gave me a new outlook on life. My only regret is that I did not do this years ago. In all honesty, I do not believe any restorative specialist could have performed a better job than Dr. Gillespie. To say I am "satisfied" is an understatement, and I would recommend him to any one considering such a procedure. I received friendly, professional treatment from the staff throughout the sessions. They were highly attentive to my needs and comfort at all times." Dental ImplantsDental implants can be used to permanently replace missing teeth. Dental implants are essentially artificial tooth roots that fuse with the jawbone and serve as a platform for tooth replacement. Implants may be used for a single missing tooth, or many teeth. If all the teeth are missing, implants may also be used to anchor and secure full dentures. For more information on dental implants: www.biohorizons.com. Dental ImagingDigital imaging, also called computer imaging, works like a photographic time machine, showing patients what they will look like in the future following cosmetic dental treatments such as veneers or teeth whitening. Digital imaging takes photos of your mouth and makes a visual prediction of your future appearance with cosmetic dentistry. In addition to making the process quite fun, this amazing technology allows patients to make more informed decisions when deciding on a treatment plan. Digital RadiographyWe use some of the most advanced dental imaging software on the market! Dentrix Image 4.0 allows instant storage and transmission of digital x-rays, as well as, intraoral pictures, extraoral pictures and photo ID's.Digital radiography has greatly increased our ability to diagnose even more confidently several types of dental diseases: from carious lesions (cavities) and periapical lesions (abscesses & tumors) to the progression of destructive periodontal disease (bone loss), all the while using 80% less radiation. Intraoral CameraThe intraoral camera is a valuable tool used as an aid in diagnosing dental problems. Under the magnification provided by the camera lens, it is often possible to detect early cracks and fractures of the teeth which may lead to future problems if left untreated. Viewing images from the intraoral camera may make it easier for patients to understand their dental needs. Periodontal Treatment - Gum DiseasePeriodontal disease, also known as gum disease, not only brings about severe health problems, but can also adversely affect a patient's smile. If left unchecked, gum disease can even lead to a loss of teeth. Periodontal disease is caused by a large buildup of the bacteria found in plaque, which erodes the soft tissues of the mouth. The early stages (gingivitis) are marked by red, inflamed bleeding gums. If it is detected in these early stages, gum disease can often be reversed. For the cases where it is not detected early on, periodontal disease may still be treated using the latest dental procedures. Our dentists typically refer patients diagnosed with severe gum disease to a highly regarded periodontal practice in our area. As reputable, qualified periodontists, they understand that gum disease is never fun, and therefore work hard to bring your mouth back to its former healthy condition. Endodontic Treatment - Root Canal TherapySome teeth which have had large cavities or extensive restoration may require root canal therapy. Root canal therapy typically becomes necessary when the "pulp" of the tooth becomes inflamed or infected. The pulp contains nerves and blood vessels which provide nutrients to the tooth. During root canal therapy, the damaged pulp is removed, and replaced with a sealing material. The tooth may then be restored with a crown. Root canal therapy has a high long term success rate when combined with proper restorative methods. Wisdom Tooth ExtractionWisdom tooth extraction is a normal part of growing up. Most people have their wisdom teeth extracted at some point, usually in their late teens or early twenties. In most cases, wisdom teeth are taken out to prevent overcrowding and maintain optimal tooth and gum health. We know that many young adults have fears associated with having their wisdom teeth extracted and we refer some of our patients to excellent oral surgeons for sedation. Partial DenturesFor some people, removable partial dentures are the most suitable option available for replacement of absent teeth. Partial dentures, which are kept in place with metal or tooth-colored clasps, aid chewing, prevent sagging of the cheeks and lips, and improve speech. Modern advances have made it almost impossible for the average person to differentiate between dentures and natural teeth. Full DenturesFull dentures are meant for patients who have lost all of their teeth. Specially molded dentures sit over the gums and fit the specific contours of the patient's mouth. Full dentures aid chewing, improve speech, and help to keep the mouth and surrounding facial area in correct alignment. Thankfully, modern advances have made it almost impossible for the average person to differentiate between full dentures and natural teeth. For new denture wearers, teeth can be extracted and new dentures delivered the same day; however there would be some preliminary impressions at a separate visit. Dental CrownsDental crowns, also known as caps, are used to restore broken, cracked or fractured teeth. They may also be recommended for teeth that have large or multiple fillings that are at high risk for fracture, or for severely worn teeth. Crowns reinforce these damaged teeth, rendering them resistant to injury. Crowns can also be highly esthetic, and can enhance a person's smile. Porcelain VeneersIf the teeth need to be slightly longer, straighter, or have spaces between them, thin porcelain veneers can be made to accomplish the desired effect. These veneers are only 1/2 millimeter thick, which means that a minimal amount of enamel is removed to make room for the veneer. The porcelain used allows us to create a restoration which is indistinguishable from natural tooth structure. Extremely strong adhesives bond the veneer to the teeth and are meant to be permanent restorations. Teeth WhiteningTeeth can be whitened three to four shades lighter using a carbamide peroxide gel without causing any damage to the teeth. This method relies on the ability of the gel to oxidize stains which build up from years of exposure to coffee, tea, smoking, soft drinks, and even chocolate! If the teeth are discolored from early exposure to tetracycline, they can be whitened also. The custom-fitting tray and quality of the gel are what differentiates a professional kit from those available over-the-counter. The professional method can take from as little as an hour for an in-office treatment or up to 8 days with a take-home treatment, as opposed to 2 to 6 weeks with other teeth bleaching methods. They were highly attentive to my needs and comfort at all times."
Beth C., Asheville
"I injured one of my front teeth as a child, resulting in a chipped and darkened tooth. Gillespie to anyone looking for cosmetic dental work (and he and his staff provide great regular dental care too!)."
Selina D., Fairview
"I just had my braces taken off and I didn't like the gap I still had in my front teeth, so I met with Dr. Gillespie and his staff."
Andrew F., Hendersonville
"I chose to have cosmetic dental work done after years of being self-conscious about my smile due to fluorosis and discoloration caused from bonding. Even staff members who were not involved with the procedure seemed genuinely excited to see the transformation of my smile."
Jill L., Asheville
"I had nice teeth overall, but I had two teeth bonded when I was a child, and the bonding material had become very discolored and chipped. "
Becky P., Old Fort
"Due to problems from birth, and what I considered poorly performed prior dental work, I was in the market for a new dentist. Gillespie called my home after hours to check on me - that's a great dentist!"
Richard W., Asheville
"For a number of years I had been urged by dentists to undergo the restorative procedure but procrastinated as the scope of work seemed daunting. Dental ImplantsDental implants can be used to permanently replace missing teeth.
