Gillespie Crew Seals Sandhill/Venable Part of our yearly volunteerism effort includes participating in the Eblen Foundation’s Sealant Program. This multi-week project involves placing dental sealants on 2nd grade students in an attempt to prevent cavities in their first molars—a dental sealant, when placed early in a child’s life, can cut down the incidence of dental decay by up to 80%, making it an extremely beneficial preventive measure. This year, our crew, along with Dr. Hope Xenakis, representatives from the Health Department, and a few dental hygiene students, served 53 students from Sandhill/Venable Elementary School. Barbara, Belinda, Colene, Donna, Rebecca, Yvette, and her daughter, Krista, joined Dr. Gillespie at AB Tech for a morning of fun and laughter as we reunited with our friends from the school’s dental program and the Health Department, and, of course, sealed out a lot of cavities!
