Dr. Rick Dimsdale: A Plan 2 Years in the Making
Several changes have occurred in our practice over the last couple of years and I would like to take the opportunity to bring you up-to-date as the winds of change are blowing again! After Dr. Martin and I elected to dissolve our dental partnership a couple of years ago, I decided to pursue an interest in starting a mentoring program in our office--as I have been in practice for many years and enjoy all aspects of dentistry, I felt I had a wealth of knowledge that I could pass on to younger doctors entering into our profession. A program such as this would also allow us to maintain our thriving practice as a two-doctor operation, providing convenient access to our patients for dental treatment and emergencies.
Our program has worked well for almost two years and I have had the honor to mentor two outstanding men, Drs. Jed Lambert and Nigel Morgan. And though our mentorship program has met our and our mentees' expectations, I have sensed the need for more continuity of care for our patients, as provided by a longer-term employee. Interestingly, as things sometimes happen, a confluence of events is creating just the type of scenario that will allow me to continue to provide convenient access to our practice while attaining the continuity of care I seek. Our current associate dentist, Dr. Nigel Morgan, has accepted an opportunity to purchase another dental practice and will be leaving our office at the end of February. In his place, we will be joined by Dr. Richard Dimsdale, a seasoned dentist with over 22 years of practice experience.
Dr. Dimsdale and I have a long history together. His father was my dentist while growing up in Sylva, and we went to high school together. When I needed help in screening patients for my dental licensing exams, he allowed me to use his Sylva office for that purpose, and we have been in contact off and on since that time. Dr. Dimsdale sold his well-regarded dental practice in Sylva two years ago, and soon after, we began checking in with each other periodically to see whether there might be an opportunity to work together. This time has now come for both of us and we look forward to him bringing his expertise and many years of experience to Orange Street.
Dr. Dimsdale and I have spent many hours together creating a formula for a long-term successful working relationship and I look forward to introducing him to you. Dr. Morgan is excited about his new endeavor as well. We wish him the best in this new chapter of his life and appreciate him helping us provide care for our patients.
Respectfully,
Timothy E. Gillespie, DMD, FAGD
